Trine 1, 2 and TheArtifacts of Power are action platforming games with a unique art style. Set in a medieval world, the games tell the story of three unlikely heroes, Will, a wizard without magic, Amadeus, a thief, and Marius, a 400-year-old shapeshifter on a mission to save his homeland. In the first Trine game, you played through each level as all of the characters and could change between them as you progressed. In Trine 2, you were able to play each character and special ability from one gameplay session. In TheArtifacts of Power, a level and gameplay session takes place in one direction and you can’t rewind, go back, jump or stop to change anything. Trine 3 combines the best of both worlds into one seamless game, in which you can play each character and ability in any order. Trine 3 is a beautiful puzzle platformer with challenging puzzles, exciting platforming, and plenty of danger and depth. Trine 3 is playable by up to 4 players online and splits the screen for local play. The game is currently available on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. The Trine 3 Beta will start today and will run for a week. After it is over, Trine 3 will be released. Gameplay You will be in control of three heroes: Will, who has no magic; Marius, the 400 year old shapeshifter; and Amadeus, the thief. The game is a 2D action-platformer in which you will run, jump, climb, slide, climb walls, break objects, and destroy items to find the artifacts. The world is designed with room-to-room interconnectivity; it’s up to you to find ways to get around, kill enemies, uncover puzzles, and find the artifacts. When you find the artifacts they will move to specific spots in the levels, and you can get them moving again to trigger hidden puzzles. What makes The Artifacts of Power different from Trine 1, Trine 2, and Trine Enchanted Edition is that there are no separate gameplay sessions. Instead, a level consists of one continuous path in which you can play as each hero, or play a given hero at any time. Characters can be switched in and out at any time, and must not be interrupted to progress. Playing from another character’s perspective while in that character gives you unique perspective. Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a sequel to the previous game in the Trine series – Trine 2: Director’s Cut. This soundtrack is designed for people who have purchased the game so that they can experience and enjoy the music together with the gameplay. The sound design and songwriting is handled by award-winning composer Ari Pulkkinen and the soundtrack is under the direction of Aksi Hyvärinen. The latter also wrote music for Trine 2: Director’s Cut and Trine: Director’s Cut, a DLC-track for the Trine franchise. The soundtrack is divided into four parts. The first track, “Shadowwalker’s Theme” is quite distinct from the other music. It is a slow but hypnotic sound design and represents an instrument that is not included in the game. Rather it’s a sound effect that is used to represent the Shadowwalker’s ability to cause illusion and distort time around him. The next three tracks cover the same game period as the first part with a few minor variations. The second track, “Bringing the Elements” is a promising and intense orchestral track. With surprising original elements, the track is a varied and dynamic track that adds a lot of depth to the game. The third track, “Run for Your Life” has a prominent synthesizer background along with the main theme. The last track, “Four Realms” is possibly the most memorable track from the game.
