some help would be appreciated. i want to create a bootable usb using rufus and i have the iso file of windows 7 installed. i have followed all the instructions online but in stead of saying that the iso file is uefi compatible it says it is not.
i went into the actual disk properties and found that the main partition was set to read-only
i went into disk management, deleted the main partition and its logical volumes and everything turned out fine, i did a complete fresh install and windows found the main hard drive again automatically without any partitioning/reinstallation of windows
im not a software engineer by any means, but this is no more difficult to accomplish than disabling “secure boot” on a uefi system (so that windows booting from usb is not blocked) and creating a bootable usb from a windows iso.

to create a bootable usb on windows system, you need to boot from a live image (live usb), and run usb creator from the windows desktop menu.
the rufus developers are continuing to update the program and add new features. this version, 2.4.757, adds the following:
- intel mac support, including bootcamp support
- a new default setting, “fastboot_only”, for faster iterations
- a way to specify the file to start from (the file must be specified as an argument)
- an updated user interface
- other minor bugs were fixed
if the same information is available for mac os x (arch-snow-leopard-10.7.x) that would be great too. i can’t believe that this software exists only for windows and that there is no information for a mac os.
