this is because of the way the licensing is handled. the activation id is stored on the server in the context of the client who activated it. if that client shuts down, then the activation id is lost. when the server is reactivated, it checks if the activation id is the one it expects for the client who activated it. if it is, it unlocks the palisade licence on its behalf.
if all goes well, a license manager will take over the responsibility of managing the license keys. if the license manager is a separate software, it should not cause any conflicts with other tools in your workbench, especially if you have a palisade workbench license. you will need to make sure that the license manager is fully up to date, though.
there is no reason to “activate” the license manager. it just applies to the licenses key. please see the next part of this series to learn more about how to install the “unlock palisade” key. we call that key the release key. normally, we will tell you how to get a full palisade license for free.
if you purchased the decisiontools suite in addition to the license manager, you need the license keys for the decisiontools suite as well. you will see a key for the decisiontools suite when you are on the license manager.
in order to get a release key for the decisiontools suite, you will need the license manager. if you just purchased the decisiontools suite by itself without also purchasing the license manager (in some cases the decisiontools suite comes with the license manager preinstalled), then you won’t see a key for the decisiontools suite.
