Kung Fu Hustle Tagalog Version Movie

chow shows his sense of humor in several ways. one is in the party he holds for sing before he goes off to join the outlaws. he’s been playing a promotional album, and the music crescendos into some random, ear-splitting noises that make the guests jump. they all look around, at each other, and at the wall for some other explanation, but there isn’t one. the host grows angry and tells the music to turn it off, but sing assures him, with only the slightest sense of exaggeration, that it’s the best collection he’s ever heard.

besides the cartoonish villains, one of the movie’s highlights is a stand-off between sing and four axe gang members, played by anthony wong, leung siu-lung, yuen wah and yuen kwong, the latter two playing sing’s bodyguards. these are four of the top five best fighters in hong kong, and they’re after the wannabe gangster, who tries to convince them that they are in fact the ones behind the ambush.

chow’s sense of humor is very like jack lemmon’s. they meet with the most friendly skepticism, but the tone, and the screen time, changes once they get off the pavement and get to the fight choreography. wu tang has never been so fun. in fact, much of the humor arises from three problems that brought the two projects together. it was the alliance of wong with yuen, who had been sing’s producer in shaolin soccer and who knew how to market the movie to english-speaking territories. it was the mutual influence of the two producers. on shaolin, chow edited the movie at yuen’s suggestion, and his writing credits for hustle are increasing.

most of the action is set up by sing. his iron will is necessary to get the gang to let him practice and then fight back on his terms. it’s a crowded brawl that takes place in one narrow passageway. behind them is the axe gang, but sing decides to fight them first. the first few scenes are played with a smaller crew than in a bourne movie, with chow putting on a melancholy chinese monologue to illustrate the action and making little exaggerated gestures. there’s a fight on a crowded street, and chow and qiu hurl themselves through crowds of people.

the fighting in this movie is really cool. not as fast as in enter the dragon, but close. the choreography is beautiful, and clearly wasn’t improvised as much as in shaolin soccer. at least one of the combatants has clearly practiced with a lot of animals, and can do flips and tricks really well. it looks like a lot of fun, and a great way to pass some time. that’s what this movie is really about. superhighlights include that hook-and-slash dance and a bit of crab ducking. little things like that make this movie more fun than the action of a lot of movies. of course, the idea of a gang of “asian action stars” donning tuxedos to knock off muggers in a movie is kind of silly: somebody would get hurt too often. but the whole film is great anyway. it’s rated pg-13, because they’re already assuming that all of us are kiddies. so they make pg-13 jokes about getting hot inside the costumes. for instance, when the beast brings along a lady friend to prove that he’s no wimp. this scene is hilarious and refreshingly sophisticated. everybody is in full control here, and the comedy comes from the way they play off each other and the ridiculous nature of the premise, not from the fights themselves. in fact, the beast’s fight with sing is cute. he’s so bummed out about it that he steals a bicycle and runs away when he’s not chasing sing. later, he comes back, changes into a muscle-tee and does some kung fu. this movie is funny in a deep sort of way, because it does sound like it’s just a concept in development, but then some of the things it ends up doing have been done by some of the greatest filmmakers ever, so it just seems to have an effect like water. a great flick, and it’s a pity that it just didn’t open in the us because it’s got a great soundtrack and fantastic choreography, complete with some inspired editing by yuen woo ping. it feels like it could have been a mainstream flick if the right people had been at the helm. 5ec8ef588b
