sadly, the cutscene is actually the worst aspect of the resident evil 3 remake. it has an absolutely horrendous cg animation style which looks a few years out of date. this is most evident when jill is first shot. she is shown to be bleeding out of her chest, and her expression is one of wonder before death. throughout the scene, her expression never changes. this is even more bizarre because at one point, she is shown to have a wound in the back of her head which causes her to bleed. but her facial expression never changes. just when you think you can’t possibly be treated to any more of this, jill is then thrown into a puddle of blood. her face is then shown to be covered in blood, but her expression is unchanged. the only time her face is shown to be in any state of shock is when we are told that she is found by fellow survivors. on that occasion, her expression is one of utter confusion and horror.
not only is there a problem with the animation, but the resident evil 3 remake suffers from a terrible camera that constantly causes the player to panic. we’re also given the worst cover system in any video game, with jill forced to stand against walls. no matter where jill goes, there is simply nowhere to go. once again, the camera is the most concerning problem. we’re often led to believe that we’re in a dangerous situation when the game is very obviously not. by the time we’re actually faced with a zombie threat, we have no idea if we’re in danger or not, and the gun is always turned off. then it never fires anyway, and we’re left with nothing to do but admire the screen while jill remains stuck in a corner.
