Metz.louis.zone is a short experimental game about building and destructing the same environment. At some point you were wondering whether this was a game or a simulation in a virtual reality device. In Metz.louis.zone you get to build your own environment from a set of bricks that only you know where they are. If you decide to destroy your environment, you set off a random mechanism that will destroy the environment – simple as that. The environment is made of a 3D grid of blocks. Really thrilled with the feedback. I’ve been working on the game for about 3 years now. Yes, “Jumper” did inspire me. My two major inspirations, though, are “System Shock” and “Limbo”. I wouldn’t say it’s “about” these games, in the strictest sense. It’s just a melding of their spirit and theme with my personal experiences of being in the dark inside. I’ve been very close to dying from lack of oxygen once, and I know what it feels like to be very ill or suddenly find yourself in an unfamiliar place. That and the original “Jumper” was just a beautiful game. There are, of course, things about it that I would change or wouldn’t have done myself. But I really like it the way it is! Since I believe (although I’ve only heard it anecdotally) that “System Shock” and “Limbo” are both on the Oculus Rift’s recommended list, maybe it will bring a lot of other players to the same place. I’d love to hear that from some of the people who are lucky enough to play it. It’s been a very long, very difficult process so far, and I hope it’s worth the time and effort.
