you switch rooms, except you’re not just switching with the jump button, you’re actually turning the knobs to change the path of the room. while that’s exciting on the surface, i’m in no way convinced it’s a good thing because it makes the game feel like it’s crammed with unnecessary choices. there are only a few important rooms in the whole place, and the rest are’marking time’ – collecting a few units and fizzling out. lots of rooms take you to additional areas, and you must do so because you can’t change the rooms you’ve locked away. but given that there are a few numbers of spawning enemies at any one time, i think it could be fun to establish a base early on and defend that from attack. especially if you’re given all-pervasive batteries to restore.

the love of disney i mentioned earlier makes it easy to work out the kind of format the game will have, but it doesn’t make it particularly good. the enemy design is interesting, but rarely something that’ll be done by anyone that’s not a trained actor. the same is true for the character designs – probably the least of its problems. graphics are solid, certainly, but far from extravagant. there is barely anything in the way of music or sound – but this isn’t such an issue because the game is never more than an adrenaline rush.

until the points system in this game is reworked, it’s not like there’s much incentive to play it more than once. and with only a few quick matches in a row and only a few special rooms to unlock, it’s not likely that you’ll be back with a sense of achievement, either.
