this is all fine and dandy until you realize that the avengers movies were in all likelihood filmed sequentially, and that their set-pieces would have taken longer to shoot than the wait for thor 2‘s release. this means that the avengers are waiting around for months for a sequel that may or may not be good. we’re not talking about some kind of james bond or bourne situation where the films essentially jump straight into the next mission. no, thor 2 itself is a prequel, meaning that it has already happened before the movies you actually saw. it’s not like stark didn’t have some kind of off-screen briefing where he explained thor 2 to the crew and told them what would happen next.

that leaves the most obvious, and easiest, answer: the avengers were missing for their own movies. i hope that now that we have established that thor 2 happens before any avengers movies, that you can, at last, relax and stop asking every question you have about the movie and just enjoy the fact that these are three movies worth of shit that i’m allowed to post on the internet. i know, i know, i’m such a huge nerd, but i have a right to be one, don’t i?

since the entire world has seen the whole avengers thing play out on a screen, from tony’s big speech about how the avengers need to be kept apart, to the montage of guys drinking beer in a tower, to the wonderful mid-credits scene with nick fury revealing the entire team to the world, the notion that they show up for captain america: the winter soldier is a bit ridiculous. how could a bunch of people who have presumably been holed up in that tower for six months know that cap is going to come back to the team?
