The third plugin in the bundle is the ERA Dynamics Engine. It is designed to enhance and extract the attack, sustain and release characteristics of a sound that is being recorded. For example, this might be helpful if you are recording your own vocal tracks. Accusonus claim that this can also be used to enhance the voice of another person’s pre-recorded tracks. That, of course, may depend on how well-recorded the original track was to begin with.

This screen shot of De-Esser illustrates the typical ERA filter interface: A big dial in the middle that you drag until your audio sounds better to you. (As with all things audio, nothing beats a clean recording with a good mic. These plug-ins are designed to fix problems where re-recording is not an option.) As I wrote in my review of ERA Bundle 3: The defining characteristic of Accusonus is a VERY simple and consistent interface.

Listening to Accusonuss demo library, I was surprised by how well they pulled the plug on the noise (or at least, the transient spikes). This is especially pronounced with dialogue, and particularly when there are competing sounds: crowd-noise, sirens, ticking clocks. It also features an especially nice and effective menu system.

It was my first introduction to the Accusonus package, so I didnt know how good their demo would be. Usually a demo like this is a taste of the whole thing, if its the full product, its how full it is. I knew it would be better than the iZotope demo, because, A, for once, they used the right demo and B, because my ears are usually more sensitive to noise.

Accusonus declare that these products are designed for sound designers and audio professionals, however, where the ERA De-Esser and ERA Equaliser are relatively easy to use, the ERA De-Esser and ERA Equaliser have a number of advanced features that will be of benefit to post, voice, editorial, and other audio professionals.Of these, the first is the ERA Algorithm Engine that captures up to 2 million soundscapes, frequencies, and transients.When active, the ERA Algorithm will match the audio material to the most similar one within the ERA library, in real time, with no artifacts.The second is the ERA Segmentation Engine. The ERA Segmentation Engine segments a 24-bit audio file into 3,900 separate component segments allowing you to modify each one individually without affecting the others. For example, altering the pitch of a noise segment will not affect any other part of the audio.In addition, ERA Studio Mode gives you the power to define user-driven cross-fades, panning, and equalization while benefiting from the most advanced algorithms available to date. ERA Studio Mode lets you adjust the pan and EQ of any individual segment to specific location in the audio. I was disappointed to discover that there is no mention of audio repair or enhancement products that Accusonus makes in the Press Releases and other documentation they provide. While they are a relative newcomer to our voice-over scene, they do have a reasonably well-stocked online resource library that can be accessed by clicking here. However, whether they realise it or not, Accusonus has around 20 years of expertise in creating audio software, audio editing and music production tools, so they also have a large library of plugins already. 5ec8ef588b
