the game is a spin-off of shantae and features shantae’s friends, many of them villains, including the two-headed dog, and the seven sirens, who have stolen the crystal of dreams. the game features many 2d platforming levels, such as a world with a variety of traps, a world which is populated with monsters and a world where shantae has to fight against time itself. the game also features boss battles, several new transformations, and the ability to jump and climb onto walls. the game has been compared to another 2d platformer, earthbound.

shortly after release, the game was quickly patched, and wayforward released an update to the game on the playstation store on november 27, 2016, which added the main characters from half-genie hero, a new crystal of power, and the ability to jump while swimming. shantae also gained the ability to break blocks in water, and if she breaks a block on the ground, she can jump onto the block and use it as a wall jump.

the main story revolves around shantae, a 20 year-old girl who is a half-genie from the kingdom of the seven seas, which is basically a big sandbox filled with islands, seas and several unique characters. shantae was created by dr. shrunken, a mad scientist, and was eventually overtaken by pirates who thought they could harness her power to make their fortune, until she was rescued by a mysterious adventurer named risky boots. now, shes on a mission to reclaim her rightful place in the world, and to do that, she must visit seven islands and defeat their various nasties. each island has a boss at the end of it who shantae must defeat in order to continue, and in doing so she will gain the power of the seven wonders of the world, which she can then use to make her way home.

there are two big problems with shantae advance. the first one is that it takes place in an entirely new world, and it takes up much more space than the original game. this comes from the inclusion of a new character, risky boots, and a lot of new enemy types, levels, and locations. its fairly fun to play, but its hard to miss the fact that this is a sequel and not a remake. shantae 3: risky retribution (cancelled game boy advance game: 2005/2006) a game’s title screen. current status partially found shantae 3: risky retribution was to be the second sequel to shantae, this time featuring a new character named risky boots. risky boots was going to be a pirate, and would be in the game. this time, shantae would have to defeat risky. risky would have her own magical hat that could give her special powers, as well as one of shantae’s six transformations. the game was to be an rpg, and a sequel to the game boy color game. shantae, however, has the ability to transform into a complete different creature. this time, shantae would go into the labyrinth, the mysterious dimension of the risky universe. shantae would have to collect the seven bells of risky and return them to the worlds ruler, risky boots. this would allow shantae to return to the main world, and defeat risky. this game would also see shantae fighting against allies such as the mermaid, the saboteur, the pirate queen, and the pirate king. the game was cancelled. 5ec8ef588b
