Saving data to multiple datastores with hibernate
I’m trying to build a simple multi-database application to learn and practice Hibernate and I’m running into some conceptual difficulties. I have a Blogger-like model with:
user {set of 2 fields}
posts { hasMany users }
comments { hasMany users }
So I have the following tables:
user { postId, userId, email }
posts { userId, commentDate, post }
comments { userId, commentDate, postId, text }
I am in the process of finishing the app now and my idea was to use the different data sources to different databases and then using multi-tenancy for the blog to make sure users aren’t accessing each others’s data.
My problem is that I can’t figure out how to get the data from the user/post/comment to work with more than one database.
I have different DAOs for each type of entity (UserDAO, BlogDAO, CommentDAO) and I am trying to figure out a good way to connect/map them to a single domain object. I would like to be able to do the following:
Set up the user in the database
create a blog post for the user
save the Blog
comment on the blog post
