This photograph represents India’s most ancient text, the Brahmanas, which elucidates the meaning of the Vedas and gives insights into the nature and origin of the gods. TheVedas are the most sacred texts of the Hindu religion. They describe the creation of the universe and mankind, as well as the myths of various gods and their many incarnations. They were written as hymns, in poetry, before being chanted and committed to memory. To initiate Brahmans for a long life and good health, it is recommended that they chant the Vedas at least once a day for a period of a year. By doing this, they purify their mind, and it helps them in all endeavors. The last chapter of the Brahmanas is called the ‘Brahma‘ chapter, a word that is used mainly in the Vedic rituals. At the end of the Brahmanas, the text lists the names of eight sages, called the ‘Brahmanas,’ who were instrumental in the evolution of the Vedic texts.

There are three main sections in the Brahm~anas: The first is the ‘Atharva‘ section. The term ‘atharva‘ means initial. The Brahm~anas include mystical utterances, popular sayings and proverbs in such diverse subjects as philosophy, the practice of righteous living, love of the Supreme, the nature of man, the story of the origin of the world, the meaning of sacrifices and their rewards, divine delights, the formation of the elements, and the activities of the different gods. The ‘Atharva‘ s~~section is divided into three divisions:

The first is devoted to the gods and the Hindu pantheon. During the Brahmanas period, deities like Kuvera, the god of gold and the treasury, Brahma and Indra were worshipped, as well as the Ganesha, the monkey god. Vritra, the “dragon,” is described as the demon of drought and as the origin of the deluge. The names of the other major gods have been mentioned in the Rig Veda.
The second division lists rites for gods and goddesses. The third division mentions the different astronomical phenomena, methods of maintaining one’s position and circumstances that lead to prosperity. Throughout the Brahmanas hymns, sacrifices are an integral part of any discourse concerning the gods. The term sacrificium means an offering to God or a sacrifice. The most important sacrifice was the ‘Vedic‘ sacrifice, which took place at the beginning of the solar year. This was followed by the yajna, a fire ritual. Yajna is another term for sacrificium. The last section of the Brahman~anas is called the ‘Sudhan‘ section. It gives a general description of the Hindu pantheon.

What is the age of Vedas? In the language of Sanskrit, ‘Veda’ is the language of the knowledge that is available to the humans. The Vedas are religious literature of Hinduism and the Hindus. It is believed that the word ‘Veda’ itself was born when Vedic literati chanted the ‘Mantra’/Kirtan, which is the most important song of the Hymn of the Vedas.The Vedic age was not so old because it was based on the texts that are being written by the Vedas. Hence the Vedas as the epical texts of the Hindus. There are four Vedas – Rig, Sama, Yajur, and Atharva. These are regarded as primary sources of knowledge on Hindu philosophy and traditions and the Archaeologists believe that it was composed around 3,500 years back. The Vedas contain sacred and mythological stories, philosophical conversations, religious rules/customs, story of the origin of the cosmos, and a prophecy of the destruction of the world. The Vedas are considered the sacred or the religious one in India. The Shaivism and Vaishnavism worship the God and the Hindu gods are the revelations of God to the people. 5ec8ef588b
