i also have the same issue with internet security and norton 360 (it is one of the paid products), i also have tried a number of methods (remove and install again, delete norton registry files, try norton version etc) but each method fails and it keeps getting stuck as it is doing something it does not like. it reports ‘internet security 2014 trial reset 180 days: this product has been reset by the user to a trial version. you can reset it again to try out the product before purchasing it.’ when i try to purchase the product. i have tried to contact norton support via phone, email and chat support about this but they are very unhelpful (they ask me for details but i don’t have a lot of details). i also contacted mcafee support and they also asked me for details and didn’t have much to say about it. they asked me to try and reinstall the latest version of norton but i can’t find it in the store. if i can get a solution to this it will be a great help to me (as i can’t afford a new firewall).

my norton settings worked fine, and now, i get “no internet connection” when i try to connect to a network. norton won’t connect to any network. i’ve disabled my firewall and anti-virus. i’m using windows 7, and i’m trying to use the norton internet security 2014 trial.

though you’re welcome to try again. please make sure that the trial version of your antivirus is actually a trial version, as it’s not at all a good idea to trial antivirus software on your actual pc. i may be able to help you more if you provide the details of your problem.
i have no prior experience with norton, but i have used avira and avast, and they are decent.
