Mega Goal 3 Workbook Answer

It is important that organisational behaviour is aligned to the goals of the organisation. This is because the organisation goals facilitate goal achievement facilitating organisational performance (Sharma & Needham, 2009). The research, in this regard, showed that there was a need for improvement in organisational culture and employee perceptions. The organisational culture was rigid, stifling, and inflexible. It was clear that employee engagement and commitment to the company depended on how well the employees felt valued by their supervisors. In addition, it was evident that the organisational culture was outdated in terms of the instruments used to appraise employees’ performance. The appraisal system for instance, was assessed by the supervisors and that of the employee by the organisation.

Given the size and significance of the organisation and its customers, it is imperative to align the organisational goal to the customer expectations. Given the low customer satisfaction scores, it was apparent that there was a need for organisational improvement in the areas of customer care, quality of service delivery, training and supervision. In addition to this, there was a need for organisational improvement in the areas of employee skills and knowledge, equipment and machinery, facilities, accommodation for employees and customer loyalty.

The employees are the most important asset in an organisation. An organisation cannot function well without their dedication, commitment and enthusiasm. Constraints in this sector slowed down employee development and restricted their continuous job satisfaction. It was difficult to attract and retain skilled non-EEA employees into the organisation. The organisation was unsuccessful in implementing succession planning and adopting a succession planning strategy as a long-term strategy.

Despite the developments in the industry and the availability of construction technology, the industry has developed in very slow manner. This lag in development has meant that the construction industry has been unable to fully realise the opportunities using this technology in terms of increasing productivity and profitability. South African construction companies are not equipped to deal with the best-of-breed technologies as a result of their technological challenges.
