haha, you’re right. i was trying to figure out why there was the possibility of double mountains and none in the valley. it’s because the mountain is a color palette and the cliffs are not. a valley is a silhouette and a mountain is a color palette. if you go back to the development build, there is a place where the valley is completely unskippable. you can skip it in-game, and there are no mountains, but if you go to the development build there are two mountains you can jump on. there is no way to skip it. i think that scene in the development build is the best easter egg of the game, because it was a combination of good puzzle-building and creative easter eggs. i tried my best to make it so that none of the easter eggs would have color ramps, or be a palette, or anything of the kind. but i couldn’t think of any way that i could not make an easter egg that had a palette ramp without the game breaking. i am not even sure that the game would not break if there was a palette ramp.

anyone who has played the maze puzzle game knows that you have to do the maze puzzle to move on, which you do by jumping on the colored platforms with increasing difficulty. if you press jump and then the jump button again while in the air, you will do a catapult move, which will move you to the next platform from the nearest edge. what really confuses me is that from the starting place for the game to the place where you can do the maze puzzle is, without a doubt, the longest way to go there. however, in the development build, there is a secret shortcut that takes you only 2 platforms (at the fastest speed). i am not even sure if it would work the same at a normal speed, but i suspect that it would. there are several places you can jump on during the maze puzzle, and you can skip at all of them. the 2-platform jump is the only one that is not there when you start the game. in the development build you can also skip past the beginning of the maze puzzle. now, some say this was not at all possible to skip in the first version of the game, but i cannot prove whether that is true or not. i myself discovered it in my own development build, and later in the final game.
