You’ll notice several things on this particular page: I started off with a chart that I had drafted with a name on the top of it. Then I circled the most appropriate elements of that name – mostly list items and a verb. I jotted down a list item on one of the pages for each of the letters of my name. These list items are vague, sometimes with a possible verb, sometimes as an object of a verb, and sometimes just written out as a complete sentence. Also, my brother David arrived shortly before I committed to this process, so I had to incorporate him in the exercise too. With the list items I had written, I made a chart that fit all of those items on the top half of one of my sketchbooks, and then on the back of it, fit a list of the names of the United States, as well as the names of the states of the U.S. (Just a few hundred people, don’t worry!) Finally, I wrote a list (on squares of blank paper) of all the quadracarts for the US with the names of the states. I wrote the quadracarts up on the back of that page of the sketchbook. Though I didn’t make this the basis for anything specifically, the idea for some kind of visual mnemonic came up in the course of my thinking about all of these ideas!
