The first stable version of AutoCAD to appear was AutoCAD 2003 (the next version after AutoCAD 2000). A number of features were added, including landmarking and the ability to snap to the nearest editable object. In 2007, Autodesk released AutoCAD 2006, which was based on the new platform. This latest version of AutoCAD (based on AutoCAD 2007) was free to download and use, but only in conjunction with a licensed subscription to the AutoCAD Application Maintenance and Support Service. This systematic review and meta-analysis examines the effectiveness of interventions aimed at prevention of AUDs among youth with LD. Published and unpublished studies were identified from April 2010 through February 2013, in searches of PsycINFO, MEDLINE, and ERIC. Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared an intervention to standard of care in youth with LD. Two reviewers independently extracted data on study characteristics and study outcomes, rated study quality, and conducted meta-analyses. Eighteen studies met inclusion criteria, with 15 primary outcomes, 8 studies with a follow-up of at least 6 months, and 6 studies with a follow-up of at least 1 year. Meta-analyses showed that interventions were effective in reducing alcohol consumption, alcohol use problems, and alcohol use disorder symptoms (N = 6). Twelve studies used parent or guardian involvement. Seven studies had an active control condition. An additional 2 studies used an active control condition but did not show differences between the intervention and control groups. Active control groups may be appropriate in young people with LD. There are no long-term studies comparing an intervention to a control group. The effectiveness of some interventions may not be evident within 6 months. Only a few studies examined the long-term effects of the interventions and they did not compare interventions to a control group. Additional research is needed to better understand the long-term effectiveness of interventions for young people with LD. Implications for Rehabilitation Identifying young people with learning disabilities (LD) who use alcohol and encouraging them to seek treatment for their use may help prevent a range of negative consequences. Active parent involvement is recommended in interventions to reduce use of alcohol and other substances among young people with LD
