Skinscape is a VR artwork that presents an interactive, disorienting view of a landscape created entirely from digital paint. In this experience, the audience are invited to experience the world through the eyes of a person “standing” on the edge of the artwork. As they turn their head to look towards a particular point on the horizon, the perspective changes, casting their view over a new landscape with a different configuration of colour and form. The work was first premiered as a sixty-minute installation at the BFI as part of the “Reading Into Digital” symposium in June 2016. The installation was co-produced by the BFI and LAB London. Skinscape is available to play for free as a preview version of the VR app entitled Skinscape, which is currently in development by Curious Pictures for Daydream. Skinscape will be available for download to Daydream headsets for free via the Google Play store on both Android and iOS devices in early 2017.
