Set in the world of Tarnath, which resides in the Territories Between, a land of elemental power between the world of Orr and the world of the Gods. Starting off as a new recruit of the mercenaries, the players must venture out into the world of Tarnath, capital of the mercenaries, and continue their quest to become the greatest mercenary captain of Orr. In this action RPG, players will join one of five unique mercenary teams. In addition to the protagonist, each player will start with 10 recruitable allies.     Japanese gaming company Code Mystics has revealed a new action RPG on the PlayStation Vita that uses the game’s breakable Ultramum system to add fancy oooh-woooh. I knew they’d try, as long as it wasn’t the Hitman re-make.

    Director Hideaki Itsuno oversaw development of the Ultramum-powered action My2nd Stage at Uncovered Japan, noting the challenge in making a game with higher than normal expectations is to make something grounded.

All of these players have a pretty major role in the story and how it plays out, and having four of them on the field at once just makes for a fun game where it feels like you’re all in the same fight to save the world as a group of five people instead of just yourself. At the end of each chapter, the main story will be taking place in a town, and depending on which type of character you play, the character and controls are a little different from other chapters. I was able to play each of the characters from chapter to chapter without going into boss battles, and they were all interesting in their own way. I’m not sure how the combat will be, but it’s definitely streamlined and not as involved as other RPGs. It seems to have a similar format to the Dragon Quest games for example, and the combat feels like an isometric action RPG with a lot of variety. You’ll be controlling the typical big, robotic dog/humanoid/etc., but each of the characters has their own specialized attacks which you can enhance when you get new abilities. The controls are easy to pick up, but of course, it’s as simple as any RPG. I enjoyed the game immensely while I played through it, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the story progresses.
