When you look at modern fish and snakes, their relationship is pretty clear — it’s the fish that pose the threat. Venomous snakes have sharp fangs and make their toxic payloads for specific purposes. Fish have no fangs and only one survival tactic: they use their poison to protect themselves. Whether poisonous or venomous, the threat is the same. Scientists studying the the extinct fish, named Ichthyosaurichthys kochi, originally thought it posed no threat at all. After all, their eyes were set too far back on their faces, so they could only see in a dim light. Other extinct creatures of the time had this characteristic too, so it seemed no big deal. And so, scientists theorized it might not even be dangerous at all. The new study, led by a team of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and published in the Zoological Journal, proves them wrong. The researchers found that the fish’s eyes were set exactly level with each other, creating a clear view of the predators in their surroundings.     Challenges and Solutions

    • First-Piece: Attempt at running thousands of templates, rather than design a logo from scratch. Unfortunately, it did not work.
    • Second Piece: I did not have enough time to improve upon the above piece, and find the final logo too dull. I gave up on the first-piece iteration and began working on a second-piece iteration.
    • Third Piece: In order to make the logo more versatile, I tried various approaches such as rolling dice and creating botanical monsters. The image that came out of these efforts was far from ideal. So, I wanted something like the following. The theme is “Rose Gold” as I wanted to juxtapose a monster-like plant (in the shape of a flower) with the colors of gold.
    • Fourth Piece: It took me a whole week to improve the above design. I came up with this concept. As you can tell, I was into a very deep portrait mode.
    • Fifth Piece: From all of the above designs, it was difficult for me to select the best. But I eventually came up with this.
    • Following Piece: I really liked the portrait attribute, especially on a full moon, and the mystery attribute too. So, I designed an icon for the game around these features (see the product image), and then tried designing a logo on it. After a long and arduous process, I found something I loved.     • Just Finished Logos: Because I could not find a single decent design for the lore, I did not create logos for it.
