Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam is a stand-alone stand-alone game. It can be run on its own or with Strike Fighters 2. Third Wire PROMO included 3 different scenarios for your launch: Vietnam, Europe and Israel. After this initial “run”, both modern and Vietnam era options are available for additional customization and review. Multiple game modes are also available.

In Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, the country of Vietnam separates from the Empire of Paran and builds its own air force. Not to be confused with the Imperial Air Army of the Empire of Paran, the ‘true’ event is a two player campaign. In the Vietnam scenario, the player takes the role of a U.S. negotiator engaging a Vietnamese pilot in a bidding war over some computer generated versions of the North Vietnamese MiG-17 and Sukhoi Su-7 interceptors. Along the way (and in the process of gathering intel on the enemy) the player upgrades and improves their aircraft and arsenal. In the Vietnam scenario, the player has several options that they must use wisely to ensure the needed victory. At the end of the game, the player determines if the client will be allowed to buy the North Vietnamese aircraft!

The Vietnam scenario is still available in the Vietnam folder of Strike Fighters 2, under the Vietnam folder is the Vietnam folder and the Vietnam tutorial. The Vietnam tutorial will walk the player through the 3 step process of creating a dialogue file for the Vietnam scenario and then allowing the scenario to be built. After the scenario is built, it will spin up with two pre-generated opponents.

On either of the pre-made versions of the two dynamic AI opponents, you will get the chance to fly either the North Vietnamese MiG-17 or the Sukhoi Su-7 interceptor modelled after the aircraft who attacked the U.S.S. Liberty on June 8, 1967. After just a couple of passes, the new interceptor will be recognized as the enemy and will engage you. You will then have to decide to destroy your opponent or allow them to escape. Both sides have several weapons that they can use to achieve victory. If you allow your opponent to escape, they earn points for doing so.
