That’s how this game starts, a ferocious title screen that may as well be shouting “It’s really a trap!” Midway through, the title is replaced with the sappy “Robot Wants It All” in a fit of self awareness. I’ve seen some people try and convince themselves that Robot is human, or asking him about his bi-lateral symmetry. That notion was a mistake all along and Robot’s only words are “LET ME REND YOUR NUBILE FLESH WITH MY STEEL PINCERS!” [second line italicized for emphasis], visible in the butt of his mission. Which is “Find KITTIE and smash it”. But Robot Wants Kitty
is so much more than that.
It starts off with a super simple game of Robot flying through certain hoops, a kitty popping out of its jaws occasionally. Easy stuff! The game goes through nine levels, each adding in more acrobatic stunts. But once the gag wears off and this game starts feeling like Robot Wants Kitty and not Robot Wants Ice Cream, the familiar mechanics of platforming make an appearance.
PROCESS ties together the former Robot Wants games and re-imagines them. Robot Wants Kitty was a humorous title, one where Robot was intent on filleting an innocent kitty. But this time, Robot’s a monster. He’s a diabolical, angry doppelganger bent on revenge. The player is now not a witness to Robot’s life, but the essential element of it, sapping his soul. The player now becomes part of the struggle between good and evil.
