Air Waybill (AWB) is issued by commercial carriers for the purpose of freight transport. It is an agreement between shipper and carrier and it must be accepted by all parties before an actual transport can begin.
The air waybill is the transport document that indicates the terms and conditions of the carriage of goods as specified by the shipper and freight forwarder. The nature of service, guarantee, risk of loss, document, custody of goods, and other such matters are outlined in the air waybill. The air waybill can be printed or handwritten. More detailed information can be found in the United Nations and International Civil Aviation Organization (CIAM) regulations.
By way of an example, the air waybill executed by the shipper makes the carrier liable for liability, damage, and loss of the shipment and waives carriers’ liens, claims, and rights of subrogation.
When the consignee accepts the shipping documents, he is deemed a consignee or a shipper. Shelf numbers are used to refer to particular cargo within a box. Clear descriptions of each cargo is recommended.
