I have the AnyTone 578 here, but the text quoted below is for the AnyTone-S 556, which you can run the same software as the 578 on for compatibility. The AnyTone 578 is a great radio, and the Anytone-S 556 is a nice version of it with a larger display. They offer the same features and the same codeplug, so you can use the same procedure to configure it. Its great to finally be able to enjoy UHF for long distance transmissions. The 556 adds a tilt switch for handsfree operation on the plane and increasing the efficiency of HF reception.

Ive been using the AnyTone 578 for about a month, and Ive developed a good habit of testing it occasionally before running it for a longer period of time. In this particular case, I noticed that when I powered it on, the display stayed blank for almost a minute until the database of frequencies was successfully loaded from the SD Card.
