the success for “un-break my heart” had caught up to her by the time of libra, her fourth (and to date, final) album for the sade-owned record label laface records. after the release of libra, toni braxton left laface records for the independent blackground records, which already had a bad reputation for its lack of respect towards its artists and promotion. however, they gave braxton her second go at a successful comeback, eventually resulting in her fifth (and latest) album of original material: libra.

this album, along with blackground, marked the peak of her career. it also marked her comeback to mainstream r&b, after years of difficult personal and professional issues. out of the three singles to be released from the album (“breathe again”, “the look of love” and “there you’ll be”), breathe again would gain the best commercial success. braxton finally put an end to her first run on the charts with “breathe again” on the billboard hot 100, reaching the number 4 position and staying on the chart for ten weeks.
