Ithaca Model 49 Serial Number Lookup

January 23, 2014 – Before 1965 M-49 had no serial numbers.The serial number on this package is 1490XX. I have found known reports that they were made in . This raises the question of how the numbers could have been produced in the same year that this package was made. January 24, 2014 – This is package #1489XX. The marking on it, like on other packages with the M-29, contains “16” instead of “17” and “23” instead of “25” for months. This suggests that it was made in February or March. January 25, 2014 – This is package #1491XX. It’s marked “28” instead of “30” for months.

I have an Ithaca M-49 22 rifle and I can’t find out how old it is or what its value is. I am not aware of any serial number cross-reference lists that could. Can anyone help This rifle was created in early 1940, and in early 1942 it was taken out of production and sent to the US Army. It was then released at the factory to become the M-29 rifle.
