the last point of weakness i feel was the fact that we only have one proper map to peruse. at most, you have three to four different maps to choose from, and those choices might be limited when looking at the majority of the characters in the game. a plague tale: innocence would probably be a better experience if we could have multiple maps to choose from; this way, you could explore the map as you wanted to, rather than being forced into a linear campaign.

so overall, a plague tale: innocence is a disappointment because of its poor narrative. if theres one thing i cant applaud, its narrative; it was so filled with good storytelling that a plague tale: innocence actually got away from being a game. this is a game that is properly set in the context of amicia and her group, and the dialogue and situations between the characters are very well-placed and well-executed. it deserves more than just a few hours of gameplay, so let this put a stop to your game.

the game’s aesthetic is very on the nose at times, and it often feels like a pretty game with well-done graphics, but that art would still not be enough without the raw emotional angle the team injected into the story. in the end, it’s the game’s character animations and interactions that really elevate a plague tale: innocence, and the way amicia and hugo react to the player character. i always wish that i had more free time. when i do, i get crazy wild and realize my dream of making a living off of video games. amicia especially is a character that pales in comparison to her younger brothers, but her determination to provide for them is admirable, and her thoughts and dialogue are fun to read, but also very poignant.
