this was my first style made on the latest px560 which may or may not be available commercially but not restricted to commercial use so i thought i would try it out and post it and let you know what i think of it. the style is “let’s play house” i like the round and the second one is only in response to a challenge i was given, to do a quick and basic open concept and arrange it on the fly, so it is a fast style. that part was easy.
the second is kind of a free “artistic expression” nothing fancy, kinda grew out of a more complex style for my friend and a bunch of rules i was playing. he showed me this and suggested i should make a style around it and when i told him how much i’d have to pay for a license, he told me to go for it.
i was surprised because i’ve never done one before, and had no idea what to do, so made a style and worked out what i needed to play the pattern.. i was thinking it had to be played by itself but after going through a few different variations i decided it would have to be part of a style. had no idea what i was doing.
an mz 2000 tones style can be used in combination with a styles free unit to create compelling new sounds, and is able to alter a styles free pattern’s sound internally, and also has the internal encoder (beat detection). typically, the style tones are digital and the style free is analog. also, styles tones are typically not capable of processing and using external instruments such as korg gadget.
that said, the styles can be used to process other analog instruments using the analog outputs of a styles free. when this is done, a styles free pattern’s sound is altered as it would be with an external analog effect.
so emc style works is not only for conversion of styles, its also for making new styles. i’m looking at the styles i already have, the ones i recently got, and the ones i still have to get. the music i’m working on has a lot of percussion, and the roland ps20-40, vs40-30, ns20-10, ps20-10, and vs40-30 are what i’m most interested in because they all sound really cool. i just need a good groove and a melody line to set it off, and i can find that anywhere now-usually in other riffs or hooks or funk grooves or jazz solos or bossa nova or fusion, or classical guitar. i guess that’s what i’m working on. i’m thinking that there might be a better way to do this then emc style works, but until i find something better, i guess this might be the only way i’ll ever be able to do it. now i did all dashboard contacts ctk-900 painted and works at touch. some guys advice to stick new rubber plates to existing – i tred it but then height of rubber rises and must be cut – it makes a mess with jump of buttons. i find my idea accurate and with no permanent damage.. styil waiting for failure as silicon rubber sticks to paint badly but its only vertical force with 88 keys in cme still no trouble with any. as a follow-up, and a final-although i have successfully recorded and reproduced several style files from other hardware modules playable in the casios as auto-arrangements-it is definitely working well now that the process and workflow is clear-it takes some practice and skill to establish markers for each casio section and get balances, tones etc. sounding correct-i think i had better leave posting styles from other manufacturers off limits. for my personal use, doing this definitely adds another dimension to what can be done with the casios-it blends creating entirely original works from scratch with learning characteristic style hooks used in what is now mostly considered obsolete equipment. takes some work but for example the one style i did upload uses a very stylistic chord pattern for a song-in the key of c it progresses from a gmaj7-to gmin7-to a min7 to d7 (also called the 5 of 5 chord), but never resolves to c, a nice little pattern to practice over. 5ec8ef588b
