at its heart, satazius is a shoot-em-up. the player is provided a series of ship combos to navigate through various environments as they search for various enemies, like space pirates, as they shoot them down. players use these combos to gain points and increase their health. the point-system in satazius starts out simple, but increases in complexity as the player progresses through the game.
its also a game where the idea of trying to complete each level is secondary to just having fun. satazius is a game where youll see hundreds of enemies as you fight your way through each level. youll encounter pirate ships, space pirates, drone ships, and more. youll even have to fight a school of glowing aquatic creatures.
i’m not sure if it was meant to be so, but i really do think that satazius is a game that could have benefited from being a bit more recent. the basic premise is that you play as the titular satazius, a ship made up of a bunch of different parts. you must battle various enemies with your thruster and laser gun, but in this game, there are power ups to collect which can be used to add a bit more oomph to the various attacks you perform. there are a variety of different weapons to choose from, with two of them capable of being deployed at any time. this makes for a far more strategic approach to combat than games of that ilk are typically known for.
i think that satazius was a pretty good game, but i was really rather disappointed in the fact that there is very little that i can use to say that it was a perfect game. this is not a game that excelled in any particular way, but it certainly did not let down. i would certainly like to play this game again, and i would say that the two other games in the series are worth a look if you want a bit more strategy in your games.
