The dome is powerful enough to kill someone, but it also can protect us from it. Only a few days after Barbie is hanged, the dome appears again; this time it’s protecting Junior after a flying saucer crashes onto a nearby field. The dome is still powerful enough to let human beings walk around without protection.
Julia gives Barbie to Dale to bury him, but Dale and his friends suspect her of helping the dome. Barbie’s funeral is interrupted by a homemade videotape that Barbie sent to a few people. While reading the note on the videotape, Barbie’s friends begin to experience weird hallucinations. Dale, Barbie’s friends and Barbie’s father all see a white light with Barbie’s face on it as the light draws nearer and nearer the Dome’s center. The voice on the videotape then explains that Barbie was able to leave the dome just before his execution; it’s in fact meant to be viewed by an eye with a special sort of perception.
In the end, the voice on the videotape is revealed to be Barbie’s father’s. He is imprisoned in the dome along with his wife for his suspected role in Barbie’s escape. It is never explained how his wife is still able to breathe or function in an airtight dome.
The second episode introduced a new creature, an alligator that lives in the lake that feeds off pink stars. We saw this newly-introduced creature in the first season but the second episode shows that the alligator isn’t alone in its ability to feed off the pink stars.
The residents of Chester’s Mill now realize how important it is to return the pink stars to the dome. But the residents are divided between two factions: those that want to keep the stars alive and let the dome help them, and those that want to kill the stars and find another way out.
big jim has been doing virtually nothing but sitting behind a desk since the dome came down. well, he’s apparently ready to take a risk and do something this week. he will be tempted to do so by the cave people he’s had locked up in the basement for some reason. who is henry? maybe someone who knows where the third missing hand is, though he doesn’t seem very forthcoming about that. there’s also barbie, who apparently has been hiding out at the supermarket this whole time. well, at least the people of chester’s mill seem to feel that way, since no one has any idea where she is. i’m not sure how much longer the main character is going to be the focus. with under the dome on hiatus, it’s time to make room for some new stories, and the show seems to have a fair number of those. so far, there are a few candidates, including barbie, barbie’s daughter, julia, and maybe even linda. no one in chester’s mill seems to be that enamored with the idea of julia being the main character. she is, after all, the one who was the breadwinner, and that’s a job that someone is surely going to be willing to take up this week. theres talk of the 3.6 meter telescope. linda finds a vial with her name on it, it contains a serum. theres a discussion about the dome, and linda goes on a walk with barbie to find out more. in a shed, linda is able to find a key to the dome. they go inside and linda realizes that its not a dome at all, but a chamber. she realises that its an alien spaceship. its a massive ship that landed here, they must leave. then, things get real. the scene cuts away to the dome, and it makes the front door disappear, trapping the group inside. the camera pans around and we see the dome is looking for a hand. norrie is no longer tied up, so we can be sure that she’s not going to be the hand. later, we hear a voice off-screen say, “you know what we’ve got here?” it’s big jim, and he begins to talk about a time in the future when the towns people will be forced to understand that “you can’t just fix everything with a gun,” and also about how their governments can be stopped with “just one little kid.” 5ec8ef588b
