the first half is a tad ordinary, but the second half is the only part that we should’ve been watching. it takes us along for the romantic ride of chandu and rajjo. the end result of their relationship is quite touching and will surely leave you with a smile on your face. the final nautical shoot at the beach makes the movie more interesting. kangna ranaut and paras arora are well-matched in terms of looks and charm. the bit parts of mahesh manjrekar and uttam singh serve their purpose well. the songs are mostly good. the beautiful beat in the song pran dore gar che is one of the most popular ones. of course, the song nak ke is not bad too.
rajjo is a well-intentioned effort from a talented director. so, if you’re a big fan of kangna ranaut, paras arora and mahesh manjrekar, you’ll have plenty to cheer for in this one. but, ultimately, rajjo is a story-based movie and not a romantic one. i think the makers have made it worse by adding those two songs. for the most part, it’s your standard tale of a heart-broken girl who gets her heart broken by someone else. even if it’s for love, it’s still a heart-breaking one.

Patil, an Indian Administrative Service officer-turned-film-maker, tries to play off Chandus innocence against Rajjos worldliness and tether the plot to the headlinesparts of Mumbais red-light district are currently undergoing redevelopment and gentrification. But the movie plays out unmistakably in la-la land, with characters that can only be found in other movies about prostitutes and a series of plot developments that bear little connection to the real world. Prakash Raj s comic-book gangster-cum-creephe seems incapable of playing anything else these daysbriefly shows up to poop the party, but there is no great mystery about which way this one is headed. Women empowerment is being stressed upon and women-centric themes are on the rise on the big screen. The Hindi film industry has often mirrored realities and Vishwas Patil’s RAJJO, a woman-centric film, attempts to portray the story of a young woman who is pushed into the flesh trade by her near and dear ones, but she puts up a brave fight against the oppressors and emerges triumphant eventually. A well-intentioned film, indeed! I might have wanted more from the movie had I read the reviews before. there are very few under permissive characters in the film which makes the movie a real close-to-the-wrist experience. I am not altogether sure about the way they played out the story but then we have to see the film to have a better understanding. I am hoping that the film does tell something more about the society and the women. Kangna’s performance is definitely her best till now and that can only be considered a good sign. 5ec8ef588b
