also included in this release is an enhanceddebugger based on the arm cortex-a7 architecture. moreover, iar embedded workbench for arm now supports armv7-m and armv8-m instructions with32-bit arm cortex-m3/4. it provides msp430 support and it also supports the new msp430 nxp bods v2 core. it is a new architecture for this family of mcus supporting the arms 32-bit msp430 core.
the arm cortex-m3 and cortex-m4 families represent the most used processor cores for embedded applications and many mcus offer both of these cores. this release is based on the release of iar embedded workbench for arm with armv7-m/mvn, armv8-m and msp430. it is also dedicated to arms 32-bit msp430 mcus.
Older users can also note two added or revamped tools: the C-STAT and C-RUNstatic code analysis tools, a new C-Trust and Embedded Trust functional safety and security add-on, andadditionaltwiceeproducts to the Embedded Workbench package. The C-STAT tool analyzes C applications for known and expected errors and analyzes specific features, such as PPI, interrupts, and user-written functions. The Embedded Trust functional safety and security add-on comes to the Embedded Workbench package with a suite of tools that will help protect C and C++ code against software errors. These tools include an automated static analysis tool that can identify some security vulnerabilities in C and C++ applications, and an application-security tool that can determine whether the source code is free from any known security vulnerabilities and/or uses of undefined, insecure, or insecure coding practices.
