This is a good thing, and it’s a sign that the conservative movement’s efforts to reinvigorate the Tea Party (or Tea Republicans) are proceeding apace. But it’s also a bad thing, because it’s a really easy role to fall into: you can just take the libertarian solution to the Marxist problem, and get to keep the money you make from writing and speaking about it. One of the great benefits of being a university professor is that, if you like your tenure, you can stop writing and speaking, do some actual research, and move on to the next academic niche. But this is no longer enough. It’s time to stop with the role-playing and professional posturing. In the meantime, please don’t let the genie out of the bottle and lose the faucet in the bathtub.
