Berlin Brandenburg International Airport is the city’s main airport, it started operations on 12th of November 2018 with a huge delay of four years after breaking ground in 2007. Since its reopening on 2nd of November, it has quickly become a key facility for Germany’s foreign relations and has therefore become a key target for the Bundeswehr. An additional reason for this reopening can be the requirements for the introduction of a first class airport for Germany. The new airport is located in the northern part of Berlin, directly next to the former airport to the south.The area is well-connected to the city’s public transport network, has 2,100 aircraft movements per day, and is only about 14 km from the center of the German capital.
